Students aren’t the only ones going through big changes during the college years. Parents and families also experience a transition when their student joins the TU campus community.
There are some easy ways to stay connected with everything going on at TU for and with parents, including:
- Join The University of Tulsa Parents and Guardians Facebook group.
- Share your email for TU Updates.
- Follow the TUPFA Facebook page (TUPFA stands for the TU Parent and Family Association).

Fall 2023 preview
Each fall, we host a handful of experiences and events for interested parents and family members of new TU students. This fall, those events will take place after new student move-in on Thursday, August 17.
Below, you’ll see a schedule from previous years (this fall’s events will likely look different, but this timetable can help you plan for that day/evening). All events for parents and family members take place in the Reynolds Center.
3 p.m.: Meet your peer mentor – New students will find their assigned peer mentor in specified sections and rows, while parents and family members choose from available seating in the sections above the students.
3:15 p.m.: “Oh, the Places You Will Go” – A fun and insightful presentation for both students and family members.
4:15 p.m.: Parent welcome – While students and their groups go to their first group meeting, parents and family members are greeted by the dean of students and other campus professionals.
4:45 p.m.: Parent information session – Various campus offices and professionals are available at tables to meet parents and families and to answer questions.
5:30 p.m.: Matriculation – Hosted by President Brad Carson and the student body president, this milestone event marks the students’ official entry into TU’s academic community.
